BIO

Caroline works as a policy officer for the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), part of UK Research and Innovation. She has a high interest in building sustainable food systems and writes blogs for the STFC Food Network+, which encourages collaborations between different areas of science to improve food security. Outside work, she enjoys hill walking, painting and working on a novel.

EXPERIENCE

Caroline studied a PhD in parasitic weeds at the University of Sheffield, researching plants that feed off other plants. During this, she undertook a Fellowship at the UK Parliament, researching policy options to reduce plastic waste from food packaging. She has worked as a freelance science writer for over ten years, and has written a range of educational resources, features for learned societies and articles on topical issues for the news portal The Conversation.
