Dr Makoto TakahashiBIOMakoto is Assistant Professor of Transdisciplinary STS at the Athena Institute, VU Amsterdam. His work examines how societies balance the competing demands of expert authority and democratic accountability. He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge, writing his thesis on how expert authority is claimed in conditions of low public trust, focusing specifically on the Fukushima nuclear disaster. He previously worked as a Lecturer at TU Munich and a Fulbright-Lloyd's Fellow at Harvard, as well as a Visiting Fellow at Waseda. He is also the lead curator of the Picturing the Invisible exhibition.EXPERIENCE
