BIO

Based in Bristol, UK, Bonnie is a freelance writer and consultant specialising in aquaculture and fisheries with a particular focus on her mother's country, Japan, where she spent several years as a child. Her interest in the ocean began when she learned how to snorkel on the Sea of Japan coast. During her free time she enjoys ashtanga yoga, a good book, gardening, and exploring the UK countryside.

EXPERIENCE

Bonnie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese and French from the University of Cardiff and a Master of Science in Sustainable Aquaculture from the University of St Andrews. After 11 years of working as a narrator and rewriter for NHK World in Tokyo, she became a freelance writer and consultant for aquaculture and fisheries media and consultancy firms. She provides news stories, features and reports on sustainability, research and technological advancements in aquaculture and fisheries, and has a keen interest in aquaculture recovery efforts in northeast Japan following the March 11th, 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster.
