Traditional Bosnian Dish: How To Make Burek | Family Recipes

Samira gets tips from her mother-in-law, Aida, to make Burek, a traditional Bosnian meat based pastry. 

Burek Recipe (Makes About 12 Rolls)

Dough:

  • 500g flour
  • 2-3 tbsp salt
  • 350ml warm water
  • 1-2 tbsp (sunflower) oil

Filling (Meat):

  • 500g ground/minced meat (beef)
  • 1 big onion
  • salt
  • pepper

Vegetarian Filling (sirnica)

  • 200g cottage cheese
  • 200g sour cream
  • 200g lowfat card cheese or feta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1tbsp salt

Additional ingredients:

  • 350ml of water
  • 2-3 tbsp salt or "Vegeta"
