BIO

Cristina is passionate about ancient seed varieties and learning traditional food and farming practices from the older generations. She loves sharing knowledge about traditional seed varieties with the public, promoting their sustainable use and conservation. 

EXPERIENCE

Cristina has a PhD in agricultural engineering. She is a researcher at the Horticulture Unit of the Agri-Food Research and Technology Center of Aragon (CITA). Since 2012, she has managed a seed bank in Zaragoza (BGHZ-CITA), which protects over 17,000  seed samples - most of which are local varieties. As part of her research, she has explored local varieties of Arogenese vegetables, such as the Pink Tomato from Barbastro (Huesca), the Bean from Muniesa (Teruel) and the Sweet Onion from Fuentes (Saragossa).
