  • Definition

Acaricides are pesticides that kill the Acari subclass of arachnids, including ticks (ixodicides) and mites (miticides). They are used in agriculture and medicine.

  • Health considerations

Individual acaricides have unique health effects and mechanisms of action. Inhalation, consumption, and contact with skin and mucous membranes should be minimized outside of supervised medical use. Residue levels on crops and in products from livestock treated with acaricides vary.

  • Keep in mind

Acaricides are distinct from ascaricides, used to treat roundworm infections.

  • May be found in

Residue in various crops and possibly products from treated livestock.
